The cabinet today approved a draft of the 2017-2020 National Strategy of Integrity and Anticorruption (SNIA), as fighting corruption is one of the basic priorities included in the government’s action programme.

The approved document has six goals aimed at discouraging the involvement in corruption deeds; recovery of products of corruption offences; ethics and integrity in the public, private and governmental sectors; protection of corruption victims; ensuring transparency of public institutions, as well as educating the society and civil servants.

A novelty of the draft invokes world tendencies in approaching the corruption phenomenon and changing the paradigm:  from anticorruption to the creation and strengthening of the integrity climate in the society, with the most relevant in this respect being the Sustainable Development Goals, developed at the United Nations.

At the same time, the cabinet approved action plans for the pillars of the 2017-2020 national strategy of integrity and anticorruption and a grid of assessing the Strategy’s impact. The document is to be submitted to parliament for consideration.
