Moldova, Georgia join efforts wIthin European pathway

Prime Minister, Pavel Filip, met with Georgian Parliament Speaker, Irakli Kobakhidze, in Tbilisi today. The officials discussed the possibilities for advancement of Moldovan – Georgian collaboration, both bilaterally and within international organizations.

 

In the dialogue, Pavel Filip and Irakli Kobakhidze mentioned the close ties between Moldova and Georgia, consolidated within over 25 years from establishment of diplomatic relations. In this context, it was emphasized good cooperation between Moldova and Georgia on the European integration. The officials stressed that the Eastern Partnership meeting in Brussels demonstrated that Moldova and Georgia have got common visions and objectives related to the advancement of relations with the EU.

 

Pavel Filip and Irakli Kobakhidze further exchanged views on importance of political settlement of territorial conflicts, expressing mutual support for sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova and Georgia. In this regard, Moldovan Prime Minister outlined the importance of regional solidarity in solution of frozen conflicts.

 

The officials also mentioned increase of 22 per cent in trade between Moldova and Georgia within eight months of 2017. In this respect, it was emphasized the importance of work of the Moldovan – Georgian intergovernmental commission for commercial and economic cooperation, being a good platform for removing the barriers that stand in the way of economic cooperation.

 

At the same time, Pavel Filip and Irakli Kobakhidze confirmed interest into opening the Embassy of Moldova in Georgia.
