Prime Minister Vlad Filat chaired a cabinet meeting today
At the beginning of the meeting, the participants kept silence for a minute in the memory of the victims of the 13 June 1941 deportation. The prime minister said that 92,600 people were deported to Siberia in that night and another 35,000 people were deported in 1949 by the Stalinist regime. Filat said that it is important to keep in mind those tragic events. In the context, he said that a special exhibition was inaugurated today at the National Museum of Archaeology and History in Chisinau, noting that a Museum of Victims of Deportation and Political Repressions would open soon. In 2012, the government allotted over 4 million lei to pay damages to the people who suffered in the wake of deportations. |
