The meeting was occasioned by conclusion of Karrina Immonen's mission to Moldova.
Filat highly appreciated Karrina Immonen's personal contribution to boosting the cooperation relations between Moldova and the UN Office which recorded a special quality to the dialogue in different sectors.
At the same time, Filat emphasized the UN team's professionalism, thus the Moldovan government establishing a very good cooperation. He pointed to the projects initiated jointly with the UN Office and its specialized institutions, adding that certain processes of a major importance for Moldova have been institutionalized.
"The success of these projects depends on the personality of those who are managing them. In this context, I would like to say that you have positively influenced the activities carried out by the UN team in Chisinau", Filat said.
Filat reiterated that the activity of the UN Office and its specialized institutions is extremely important for Moldova, as representing an important source of support for Moldova's efforts in a period of social and economic transformations. He said that Moldova is further open for backing the multilateral actions promoted by the UN, and further opts for a productive and progressive dialogue in the cooperation process with the UN Office and its specialized agencies.
Filat assured that the initiated projects will be continued, as they focus on the people and the settlement of issues faced by them.
For her part, Karrina Immonen expressed gratitude for openness and good cooperation, manifested by the Moldovan government, especially by Filat and his team.
"You have a very good, young and dynamic team, with which we easily communicated and achieved many goals", Karrina Immonen noted.
She was impressed about the hospitality of the people living in Moldova, adding that she persuaded of it during the five years of activity in the country.
"Moldova is a friendly and very beautiful country, many positive changes happen here over the past years. I am sure that it has a prosperous future, and the jointly initiated projects will contribute to the improvement of the people's life here", Karrina Immonen said.
She voiced hope that a new UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Chisinau, Nicola Harington, will have an active cooperation and an efficient dialogue with the Moldovan authorities, materializing in projects with good results both for Moldova and the UN.
