The participants in the meeting discussed the importance to consolidate the dialogue between the central and local powers. The prime minister said the Balti local authorities will have the needed support on behalf of the government to implement diverse projects for the municipality's social and economic development.
Also, Filat noted that the financing within a project on drinking water supply via the Balti-Soroca aqueduct is provided, the project's feasibility study is close to its completion, and it remains only to select an operator that will carry out the works themselves.
Vlad Filat showed content with the visit to the Balti city, stressing that the institutional dialogue must be turned to account, and the state institutions should ensure the observance of the juridical and legislative norms. "All the local authorities must represent the interests of the citizens," the prime minister emphasized. He specified that any problem may be settled by means of dialogue and political struggles are unnecessary in the post-electoral period.
For his part, Balti mayor Vasile Panciuc showed satisfaction with the meeting with Prime Minister Vlad Filat and appreciated the organization of the government meeting in Balti. "As a result of the decision taken at the cabinet meeting on providing the status of second-level territorial unity to the Balti municipality, it is logical to give up the initiative on the organization of the concerned referendum. I will propose to the Balti municipal council to renounce the initiative on the organization of this plebiscite," Vasile Panciuc added.
