Discussions of Deputy Prime Minister Valeriu Chiveri with Permanent Representatives and Diplomats Accredited to the OSCE

During his working visit to Vienna, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri discussed issues related to the Transnistrian settlement with a number of diplomats accredited to the OSCE, in particular representatives of the EU, the United States, Germany, Switzerland, Romania, Poland, Finland, Ukraine, Norway and Türkiye, as well as representatives of the Office of the OSCE Secretary General.

The Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed the need for a peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict based on respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova.

The meetings also addressed the dynamics of the dialogue between Chișinău and Tiraspol, as well as the efforts undertaken by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova to promote determined and effective reintegration policies. All these actions are aimed at eliminating differences and artificial barriers between the two banks of the Nistru River and restoring unified national spaces across all sectors. It was separately noted that, through the Convergence Fund currently under development, measures for social protection and sustainable development will be implemented in the interests of citizens, particularly vulnerable persons on both banks of the Nistru River.

At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the need to take timely measures to protect fundamental human rights in the eastern districts of the country, as well as to maintain a regional environment of security, peace and prosperity.

The dialogue served as a good opportunity for the exchange of information and views, as well as for strengthening partners’ support for the reintegration process.
