Issues discussed at the meeting of the Joint Control Commission in Bender
The discussion on the issue of media access to the activities of the Joint Control Commission continued during a new working meeting held on March 12, 2026, in the city of Bender.
The position of the delegation of the Republic of Moldova remained unchanged: defending the professional right of members of the press to report directly from the source on the functioning of peacekeeping mechanisms in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova.
At the current stage, this prerogative of journalists is being blocked by representatives from Tiraspol, who demonstrate a selective approach and impose excessive requirements on media outlets from the right bank of the Nistru River.
Regarding freedom of movement in the Security Zone, the delegation of the Republic of Moldova referred to the road repair works initiated by the mayor’s office of the village of Hîrbovăț on one section of the road and demanded that the unimpeded movement of vehicles belonging to the village’s poultry enterprises be ensured along an alternative route passing through checkpoints of the Transnistrian structures. Our delegation appealed to all members of the Commission to resolve this issue positively in accordance with the provisions of the Agreement of July 21, 1992.
