Meeting of Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri with the European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos

On March 12, 2026, during a working visit to Brussels, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri met with the European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos.

The officials discussed the current situation in the negotiation process on the Transnistrian settlement and the advancement of policies for the reintegration of the country, as well as bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union in the context of Moldova’s EU accession process.

The Deputy Prime Minister informed about the results and priority measures undertaken by Chișinău to address the pressing problems of residents on both banks of the Nistru River, to remove existing barriers in the eastern districts of the country, and to restore single national spaces in all sectors (economic, social, educational, energy, fiscal, etc.).

Sincere gratitude was expressed to the European Union for its continuous support to the Republic of Moldova, including in the energy sector, which contributes to maintaining stability and ensuring the energy needs of residents on both banks of the Nistru River. This assistance also contributes to the modernization, strengthening, and sustainable development of the country, as well as to the implementation of European quality standards in the national regulatory framework.

The interlocutors reaffirmed their commitment to continuing cooperation in supporting efforts toward the Transnistrian settlement, with respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova.
