Weekly meeting of the Joint Control Commission

On June 16, 2022, at Bender, the Joint Control Commission continued its work, which was interrupted last Thursday. Then, the delegates from the left bank of the Dniester had left the meeting in order to prevent a possible decision on the issue of armed posts and soldiers unilaterally installed in the Security Zone.

The Delegation of the Republic of Moldova maintained its firm position that the posts should be eliminated, and in order to overcome the barriers encountered in the debates on the subject in question, it put forward new proposals aimed at contributing to the adoption of a constructive decision in this regard.

Uninterested in unblocking the situation, the members of the Transnistrian region delegation maintained their provocative rhetoric, issued aberrant accusations against Chisinau officials and said they would continue to carry out measures uncoordinated with the Joint Control Commission in the Security Zone.

In order to combat the attempts of the Tiraspol exponents to distort the activity of the Joint Military Command, the Delegation of the Republic of Moldova forwarded an address to the other participants of the Commission. The document exposes the premeditated distortion by the Transnistrian component of the actions taken within the Joint Military Command in connection with the incident that took place on June 5, 2022, in Vladimirovca. Back then, Tiraspol had announced a so-called "drone attack" on a military unit of its own, but did not immediately request the deployment of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, nor did it admit the monitoring team of the OSCE Mission.

No decisions were taken during the meeting, discussions being postponed to the next week.
