Moldovan government approves concept of new National Atlas of Moldova

3 april 2025, Chișinău - The geographic, economic, demographic, cultural and environmental data specific to the entire country will be included in the National Atlas of the Republic of Moldova. The government approved the concept of the Atlas today.
It will include topic-related maps, explanatory texts, graphs and pictures due to present the developments of Moldova in terms of the population, ecology, industry, history and other relevant areas. The Atlas will be written in Romanian and texts and map names will also be translated into English. The cartographic work will be available both in print and digital format, on the topic-related Geoportal of the Agency for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre - geodata.gov.md.
The new edition, the first since declaration of Moldova’s independence, will serve as support for research, education, territorial planning and public decision-making. At the same time, the Atlas will promote national heritage and enhance transparency and access to information.
“This is a very important tool for industry, enterprises, commerce, people and the academic sector,” said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
