50% of the total import authorizations of medicines on the territory of the Republic of Moldova were attributed to the profile companies from the transnistrian region – aspect stated at the 5th meeting of the health care experts in 2022

Today, August 9, 2022, the health care working groups (WG) convened for a new meeting, the 5th of 2022.

 

The delegation from Chisinau was led by the General Director of the Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (MMDA), Dragoș Guțu, with the participation of the representatives of the Ministry of Health, the Reintegration Policy Office, and the Customs Service.

 

The discussions focused on the medicine import mechanism, with some aspects related to MMDA issuing authorizations for unregistered medicines being clarified. The delegation from Chisinau mentioned the positive impact of the technical meetings organized by the MMDA for the economic agents in the Transnistrian region to comply with the procedural steps that need to be taken in order to obtain the authorization, reiterating the Agency's openness to offer remote consultations on this subject.

 

At the same time, the coordinator of the WG from Chisinau drew attention to the fact that of the total authorizations issued by the MMDA throughout the territory of the Republic of Moldova, from February 24, 2022, until now, 50% have been assigned to the 8 economic agents from the Transnistrian region of Republic of Moldova (over 800 import authorizations, out of which 300 – for vital medicines).

 

Also, at the request of the specialists from Tiraspol, the representatives of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Moldova explained the procedure for procuring laboratory tests for the detection of viral hepatitis B, C, D intended for patients from the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova.

 

Another important topic of concern was the medical (rehabilitation) services in the Republic of Moldova given to children diagnosed with cerebral palsy, including the children from the Transnistrian region. In this regard, Chisinau expressed openness to examining the opportunities for expanding the services for the children residing in the region, based on the statistical information that Tiraspol will provide through the established dialogue channel.

 

The experts agreed to maintain the dialogue on topical issues to ensure the access of the citizens to medicines and high-quality treatment.
