The purpose of the trip was to identify the needs of educational institutions and find solutions to improve the access of residents from the Transnistrian region to quality public services.
During discussions with the administrations of the “Lucian Blaga” Theoretical Lyceum in Tiraspol, the “Alexandru cel Bun” Theoretical Lyceum and the Gymnasium in Bender, the current situation, the challenges encountered and the measures needed to ensure a high-quality educational process were addressed. The needs of these educational institutions were also discussed, including improving learning conditions, equipping classrooms and facilitating access for pupils and teachers.
In addition, a visit was made to the Moldsilva Agency building in Bender, which has been proposed for conversion into a Family Doctors’ Centre and facilities for providing social services to residents of Bender, Tiraspol and nearby localities. This initiative, promoted under the Convergence Fund, has received positive feedback at the local level, including during discussions with the management of the primary healthcare institution in Varnița. The initiative’s role in improving access to healthcare services and reducing the distances travelled and costs incurred by citizens was highlighted.
During the visit to the Bender Police Inspectorate, the results of the modernisation of one of the police stations were reviewed. The station received funding of 900,000 lei under the Program of Activities on the Reintegration of the Country for 2026, aimed at ensuring more accessible and higher-quality services. Furthermore, discussions at the Office of the People’s Advocate in Varnița focused on the human rights situation in the Transnistrian region, the issues raised by citizens, and opportunities for cooperation to protect human rights and facilitate access to national support mechanisms.
