Discussion between the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration and the Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Moldova

On 24 July 2026 Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri held a meeting with the Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Moldova, Cristian-Leon Țurcanu.

The Government’s current priorities on the country’s reintegration policies, together  with the measures planned for the upcoming period, were discussed.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that the authorities of the Republic of Moldova continue the promotion of draft legislative acts that will contribute to the more effective tax and customs reintegration of the activities of the economic operators from the Transnistrian region. At the same time, the authorities are finalizing the developing of the mechanism for operationalizing the Convergence Fund, which will provide additional benefits to residents whose place of residence is in the eastern districts of the country. 

In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed appreciation to Romania for its continuing support for the Republic of Moldova, including through projects benefiting both banks of the Nistru River, in the areas of education, culture, as well as economic development and the strengthening of energy security.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the officials reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a regular dialogue and close cooperation, while continuing to expand collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
