Event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the creation of the Mixed Peacekeeping Forces

At the 3rd Independent Infantry Battalion of the Peacekeeping Forces in Coșnița, Dubăsari, a ceremony dedicated to marking 30 years since the introduction of the peacekeeping operation in the Security Zone of the Republic of Moldova was organized.

 

The event was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister for reintegration Oleg Serebrian, the representatives of the delegation of the Republic of Moldova in the Joint Control Commission and the Bureau of Reintegration Policies, and the military contingent of the Peacekeeping Forces from the Republic of Moldova.

 

The Deputy Prime Minister for reintegration came with a message of appreciation for the efforts made to maintain peace and security, as well as for the dedication shown towards the Republic of Moldova, the sovereignty and territorial unity of the country.

 

In the brief speech of the head of the delegation of the Republic of Moldova in the Joint Control Commission Ion Solonenco, it was emphasized that peace, public order, free movement and the well-being of citizens are the objectives constantly promoted by the peacekeepers from the Republic of Moldova in cooperation with law enforcement structures and local public authorities, and the reunification of the country and the elimination of the existing obstacles between the two banks of the Nistru River remain constant strategic desires.

 

During the festive ceremony some peacekeepers were decorated with awards and diplomas of honor for the impeccable performance for the service and outstanding results in professional activity.

 

We remind that the Mixed Peacekeeping Forces were established according to the agreements reached upon the Accord on the principles of peaceful settlement of the armed conflict in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova, signed on July 21, 1992, being designated responsible for monitoring the situation and maintaining stability in the Security Zone.
