Meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian with the head of section for confidence building measures from the Council of Europe Anna Capello

Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian had a meeting today, 16 June 2022, with the Head of the Confidence-Building Measures Section of the Council of Europe Anna Capello, accompanied by Giulia Re, Deputy Head of the Council of Europe Office in Chișinău.

The discussions focused on potential project initiatives aimed at boosting confidence and intensifying contacts between residents on both banks of the Nistru River, the implementation of which will be ensured through the provisions of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Moldova 2021-2024.

The Deputy Prime Minister suggested as appropriate the projects that promote respect for human rights and democratic values in the Transnistrian region, in the field of education, culture and ecology,  and also those which strengthen cooperation between young people, artists and creators, professionals from various fields, exponents of the NGO community.

In this context, the need to use neutral channels of communication and interaction in the eastern districts of the country was reiterated, avoiding sensitivities for the country's reintegration policies and maintaining partnerships in the spirit of commitments between the Republic of Moldova and the Council of Europe.
