Meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration with the Delegation of Ambassadors of Weimar Format OSCE Participating States
On 19 October 2026, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri met with the Permanent Representatives of France, Germany and Poland to the OSCE, representing the Weimar Format, who are on a working visit to the Republic of Moldova.
The meeting addressed the dynamics of dialogue within the existing platforms for the Transnistrian settlement process, developments in the region, as well as the measures taken by the national authorities to resolve the pressing issues faced by residents on both banks of the Nistru River.
In this context, progress in advancing policies aimed at the gradual reintegration of the country was presented, with a focus on government efforts to gradually integrate economic operators from the eastern districts of the country into the Republic of Moldova’s unified fiscal and customs framework. The role of the Convergence Fund was also highlighted as a mechanism designed to provide additional support instruments for the delivery of public services to citizens of the Republic of Moldova residing in the Transnistrian region.
Another topic discussed during the meeting was the worrying human rights situation in the Transnistrian region, including abuses such as restrictions on pupils’ right to education in Romanian-language schools and the creation of artificial obstacles to freedom of movement.
The ambassadors of the three states reaffirmed their strong support for a peaceful and comprehensive settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, while respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova within its internationally recognized borders.
