On March 2, 2026, the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Valeriu Chiveri participated in commemorative events honoring the heroes who fell on the Nistru River, organized on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance and Gratitude in the localities of Molovata Nouă, Cocieri, and Corjova, in the Dubăsari district.
During the solemn ceremonies, on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Moldova, the Deputy Prime Minister paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives defending the independence and territorial integrity of the country, emphasizing the importance of preserving the memory of the heroes and passing on the values of courage and dignity to future generations.
In his message, Valeriu Chiveri highlighted the need to strengthen national unity, as well as to continue the efforts undertaken by the authorities to achieve the country’s reintegration through peaceful means.
“That unjust war was not an internal conflict. It was a war initiated from outside. The army that fought against us in 1992 is still present on the territory of our country today, creating difficulties for the efforts to reintegrate the state. These days remind us once again of the value of peace and the gratitude we owe to our heroes. The war left deep marks on families, communities, and in our collective memory,” the Deputy Prime Minister stated.
The events brought together veterans, local authorities, and residents of the communities, who observed a moment of silence in memory of the heroes and reaffirmed their deep respect for those who defended the sovereignty of the state.
