The representatives of the Bureau participated in the „Examination of the problems in the human rights domain identified by the bondholders” workshop

On the 12th of July 2022, the representatives of the Bureau of Reintegration Policies, Eugen Cara and Mihai Turcan participated at the “Examination of the Problems in the Human Rights Domain Identified by the Bondholders” Workshop, organized by the Office of the People’s Advocate (Ombudsman) in partnership with the European Council Office in Chisinau and hosted by the Summit Events and Conference Center in Chisinau.

At the event, interactive discussions were held regarding the process of elaborating the Program of Strategic Developments for the 2023-2030 period, particularly, the aspects concerning the interaction between the public institution and the ombudsman for assuring the human rights compliance on the whole territory of the Republic of Moldova, including the Eastern districts of the country.

The representatives of the Bureau invoked that the problem of the human rights compliance in the Transnistrian region remains a pressing issue in the actual complex regional context, given the restrictions and abusive persecutions faced by the citizens on the left bank of the Nistru River and Bender municipality. This file was kept on the agenda of all the negotiations formats and in the communication with the relevant external players.

At the same time, full support for the process of institutional consolidation of the Office of the ombudsman in Moldova was expressed. This process will contribute to the improvement of the situation in the field of human rights protection in compliance with the international standards in this area.

The participants to the event agreed that all the players who manage the segment of human rights protection follow the same objectives and should act in a coordinated manner to improve this process.
