The volume of imports of goods in the Transnistrian region combats the rhetoric of the so-called regional economic blockade

In addition to the arguments presented in the Bureau's press release of 21 April of the current year: https://gov.md/en/content/remarks-regarding-tiraspols-rhetoric-alleged-impediments-created-economic-activity-companies, which highlighted the lack of plausible evidence in regards to Tiraspol’s unjust statements accusing the authorities in Chisinau of applying the alleged commercial economic restrictions, we present some demonstrative figures that reveal the quantitative percentage share of imports of goods in the region in the first semester of 2022, compared to the total of imports throughout the country:

- 20.42% of the total frozen meat and fresh, refrigerated and frozen edible organs;

- 17.66% of the total live, fresh, frozen fish and seafood;

- 10.40% of the total of gasoline, etc.

Detailed figures in this regard are in the possession of the competent national authorities.

The correlation between some figures of imported goods and the number of inhabitants with permanent residence in the eastern districts of the country highlights a difference in some categories of goods that is 2 to 3 times greater compared to the right bank of the Nistru river, which indicates that those goods are not consumed exclusively in the region but also penetrate other consumer markets.

Moreover, in the current year there is an increase in the demand for goods purchased on the right bank of the Nistru river, and the companies in the region that carry out foreign commercial economic operations according to the rigors of the national legislation in force continue to benefit from a series of fiscal and customs facilities.

Accordingly, Tiraspol’s accusatory and provocative rhetoric is unfounded and devoid of any proven genuine data.
