Prime Minister: Supporting Ukraine means supporting European security and regional stability
Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu took part in a high-level meeting - Ensuring Peace in Ukraine: Guarantees, Recovery and Prospects, held in Gdańsk, Republic of Poland. The event brought together European officials for an exchange of views on security guarantees for Ukraine, the reconstruction process, the role of European Union enlargement, and the measures needed to strengthen regional resilience.
Munteanu emphasized that the reconstruction of Ukraine cannot be seen solely as an economic or infrastructure process, but as a strategic security project for the whole of Europe. The Prime Minister noted that the Republic of Moldova will continue to be an active partner of Ukraine, including through developing regional connectivity, strengthening transport routes, and supporting energy security.
“A sustainable recovery of Ukraine requires security, connectivity and long-term solidarity. The Republic of Moldova will continue to contribute to strengthening the stability and resilience of the entire region. Supporting Ukraine means supporting European security and regional stability, including that of the Republic of Moldova,” he said.
The discussions also focused on the need for predictable financing mechanisms for Ukraine’s reconstruction, on more effective coordination of international support, as well as on strengthening standards of good governance and transparency in the recovery process.
