Moldova and Korea to develop economic cooperation based on new agreement
The Republic of Moldova and Korea will collaborate more actively in the economic field, based on an Agreement approved today by the Cabinet of Ministers. Economic cooperation with the Republic of Korea is of strategic interest for our country, given its advanced level of technological and industrial development.
The document aims to advance trade and economic relations between the two states in areas such as industry, energy, information and communications technology, transport, environmental protection, and construction.
Thus, bilateral trade, the attraction of investments in the national economy and the implementation of joint projects will be facilitated, along with the exchange of experts and the participation of economic agents in international fairs and exhibitions. For this purpose, the Moldovan-Korean Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation will be created.
In 2025, the volume of foreign trade of the Republic of Moldova with South Korea reached 105 million dollars—26% more compared to the previous year. In the Republic of Moldova, 8 companies with Korean capital are currently operating.
It is worth mentioning that the adoption of the Agreement corresponds to the authorities’ objective of diversifying trade and economic relations with countries in the East Asian region and increasing the visibility of the Republic of Moldova in that region.
The Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the Republic of Korea on economic cooperation was signed in Chisinau on 17 February 2026.
