A so-called security alert code yellow has been enforced in the Transnistrian region for the May 25 – June 8 period

Today, May 25, 2022, by a "decision" approved by the leader of Tiraspol, the so-called security alert code yellow, in force between April 26 and May 25, 2022, was annulled, and the so-called code yellow security alert was approved for a time period of 15 calendar days (May 25-June 8, 2022).

We find that although the alert level has been reduced, the series of restrictive actions is amplified, as well as the regime of activity of different structures, the increase in verification of different infrastructure objects, means of transport, persons.

The measures include requiring citizens to register when traveling through the so-called Tiraspol crossing points, installing checkpoints at the entrance to cities in the region, increasing detailed and special technical control of means of transport entering / leaving the region, including of those in the bus and railway stations on the left bank of the Dniester and Bender municipality.

The restrictive measures imposed are worrying in the context that such impediments do not persist and are not imposed on the right bank of the Nistru River in relation to the inhabitants of the Transnistrian region, and given the impossibility of the competent national authorities to intervene in temporarily uncontrolled areas in case of incidents, we suggest avoiding unjustified travel in the region during this time, as well as travel which could create risks of unlawful restriction on universally guaranteed rights and freedoms.
