Weekly meeting of the Joint Control Commission
A new weekly meeting of the members of the Joint Control Commission took place in Bender on March 24, 2022.
The discussions started with the elaboration of the agenda of the meeting. The delegation of the Republic of Moldova brought forward arguments to convince the sides to include current issues in need of immediate solving on the agenda, inasmuch as some processes of the monitoring mechanisms in the Security Zone are stagnating for a long time. There is also evidence of non-execution of several decisions of the Joint Control Commission, such as the one of September 24, 2020, which obliged the Joint Military Command to take measures to document all border posts illegally installed by Tiraspol during the pandemic period.
However, the Transnistrian region delegation maintained its non-constructive stance, continued its efforts to politicize the work of the Unified Control Commission and to involve the military component of the peacekeeping mission in political disputes. The representatives of Tiraspol also opposed the approval of the agenda.
Thus, the Commission did not take any decision on the important issues, and the meeting was postponed until March 31.
