Remarks regarding Tiraspol’s rhetoric on the alleged impediments created in the economic activity of companies from the Transnistrian region

In the context of the multiplication of Tiraspol's accusations against the constitutional authorities of the Republic of Moldova, regarding an alleged intentional restriction of the import of different categories of goods in the region, we would like to point out that the mentioned difficulties are deliberately and artificially generated by the de facto decision makers in the region, who resort to various preconditions in order not to comply with the rigors of the national regulatory framework and the international commitments in force.

The economic agents of the region are registered and hold activity licenses issued by the competent national bodies, their internal and foreign commercial operations are carried out in accordance with the provisions of the working legislation, they interact directly and effectively with the competent public institutions, which offer them advice, guidance, recommendations and explanations on the sets of documents required to be submitted, the mandatory procedures to be followed, the shortcomings that need to be removed.

The constitutional authorities in Chisinau provide all possible assistance to entrepreneurs in the eastern districts of the country and make every effort to place their activity in the single economic and commercial area, in compliance with the rigors of the legal framework applicable throughout the country. We specify that they have a good understanding, receptivity and willingness to comply with the standards and requirements established at national and international level.

Unfortunately, Tiraspol's attempts to give political connotations to the processes and to shape the perception of the functioning of parallel normative spaces, with the imposition of rules and nomenclatures that are not legally compliant and not approved in the established way complicate the lives of citizens and entrepreneurs on both banks of the Nistru River.

Chisinau has never imposed so-called "economic blockade" measures and does not implement discriminatory approaches to the region's business environment, while compliance with the requirements of existing legislation is fairly demanded on both banks of the Nistru River, including from the perspective of maintaining fair competition, especially since over 70% of the commercial transactions of companies in the region are carried out with the right bank and with the member states of the European Union, which also imposes the corresponding compliance rigors.
